A simple routine for high UV days
Sun protection is one of the simplest things you can do for your skin over the years. Here is an easy routine for days when the UV index is high.

Make sunscreen the last morning step
Broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher goes on after your other skincare. Use a generous amount, about a nickel size for the face.
Reapply when outside
Every two hours, and right after swimming or heavy sweating.
Do not forget the easy-to-miss spots
Lips, ears, neck and the backs of the hands often get left out.
Track your routine and see your skin over time
Log your products and take matched progress photos so you can see what is working. Free, no sign-up, and it stays on your device.
Start your skin journalUse shade and cover
UV is strongest from about 10 AM to 4 PM. A hat and sunglasses add easy protection.
Be extra careful with some products
Some skincare, such as retinol and exfoliating acids, can leave skin more sensitive to the sun, so daily sunscreen matters more.
Follow the directions on your sunscreen label. If you have a skin condition, take medication that increases sun sensitivity, or notice a changing spot, ask a dermatologist.
