Getting through your fast
The middle of a fast is usually the hardest stretch. These small habits are what many people lean on to get through it comfortably.

Keep water close
Sip through the day rather than all at once. Plain or sparkling water, with or without lemon, is fine.
Pick your drinks
Plain tea and black coffee are common choices. Skip anything with calories if you want the fast to stay a fast.
Move gently
A slow walk can take your mind off hunger. Save hard workouts for your eating window.
Time your fasts and see your progress
Start a fasting timer, log water and watch your routine add up. Free, no sign-up, and it stays on your device.
Start a fast timerRide out the waves
Hunger tends to come and go rather than build steadily. Many people find it passes in 15 to 20 minutes if they stay busy.
Know when to stop
Ending a fast early is always fine. If you feel dizzy, faint, shaky or unwell, eat something and rest. If it does not pass, contact a clinician.
Check with your clinician before fasting if you are pregnant or nursing, have diabetes or take medication that affects blood sugar, or have a history of disordered eating. Fasting is not right for everyone.
