A gentle new-year habit reset
You do not need a dramatic resolution. A small, gentle reset based on a few habits is easier to keep, and kinder to you.

Start by looking back
Before you plan, spend ten minutes thinking about the past year. What helped you feel good? What drained you? Write down three things to keep and three things to let go of.
Choose one to three small habits
Pick habits that are specific, small and easy to repeat. "Walk for ten minutes after lunch" is better than "be more active." Three is plenty. One is fine.
Good starter habits include a regular wake time, a glass of water with breakfast, a short evening wind-down and a daily walk.
Attach each habit to something you already do
Habits stick when they have a cue. After you brush your teeth, write three lines in your journal. After you pour your coffee, drink a glass of water. Use the three-line daily journal for the first one.
Keep your routines steady all season
Log meals, water and your daily rituals in one private journal. Free, no sign-up, and it stays on your device.

A monthly sheet on the fridge makes progress visible. Shade a box each day you do the habit. The new-year habit reset sheet is a one-page printable made for this, and the 30-day challenge tracker is great for a single habit.
Plan for missed days
You will miss days. The rule that helps most is simple: never miss twice in a row. If you skip a day, return the next day and carry on without guilt.
Keep it kind
Avoid all-or-nothing thinking and avoid framing a reset as punishment or a "fix." Focus on how you want to feel, such as rested, calm or energetic. If you want to change eating, exercise or weight in a significant way, talk to a doctor or registered dietitian first.
